Owing to her bicultural upbringing, Lily-Rose Depp has become a style star in her own right. She has carved out a distinctive and powerful niche for herself in the fashion industry with her unique blend of charisma and style. Lily-Rose’s lineage combines French elegance with Hollywood glamor. Her early years were spent growing up between Los Angeles and Paris, where she was exposed to a wide range of cultural and fashion inspirations. This is seen from the way she dresses, which skillfully blends the strong, avant-garde flair frequently found in Hollywood with the stylish minimalism of French fashion.

Rise to Fashion Fame

Depp made her entry into the realm of fashion early on. She joined Chanel as an ambassador at the age of sixteen. Her debut for Chanel established her as Karl Lagerfeld’s inspiration. Working with Chanel has been essential to Lily-Rose’s career, as it has allowed her to be included in multiple advertisements and runway presentations. Her versatility has been shown through her work with Chanel. Lily-Rose personifies the brand’s core values of classic elegance with a contemporary touch, whether she’s wearing a bold haute couture gown or a classic tweed suit. Her attendance at Chanel fashion shows and events is always greatly anticipated, and her stylish choices never fail to leave an impression.

Apart from her mother, a former Chanel muse, Lily-Rose has expressed admiration for the elegance and poise of Audrey Hepburn, the boldness of Brigitte Bardot, and the rebellious spirit of Kate Moss. These influences are reflected in her ability to oscillate between classic, refined looks and edgier, more provocative ensembles. Her red carpet appearances often pay homage to these icons, blending old Hollywood glamor with contemporary trends.

Beyond her work with high fashion houses, Lily-Rose’s personal style further cements her status as a fashion icon. She masterfully blends vintage pieces with modern trends, creating a look that is both nostalgic and innovative. Her wardrobe staples include tailored silhouettes, bold accessories, and statement pieces that reflect her confident yet understated fashion sense. Off-duty, she is often seen in effortlessly chic ensembles that combine comfort with high fashion—think jeans paired with vintage t-shirts, oversized blazers, and designer handbags. This blend of casual and couture makes her both relatable and aspirational.

INTERVIEW WITH AN ARTIST: ZIRBIE (Freelance Artist/ Painter)

Q. What inspires you to create art?

Nobody. It just happened. I started with an intention to be a very good artist so I just started practicing every single day with zero thoughts during my primitive years. Obviously sometimes it was reinforced through winning local art competitions. Eventually I grew passionate about it and started to own it.

Q. Who are some of your major Influences in the Art world?

Funny thing is I don’t have any individuals in my mind currently. I’m still a very young artist so I try to be open to any kind of inspiration whether it be in real life or on the internet. Although there are certain types of art that I gravitate towards more, I admire works that have stories attached to them and artwork that are memorable, with elements of horrific and amusement.

Q. How has your upbringing or background influenced your work?

You can’t help but be influenced in your art by your upbringing and I’ve realized this thing very late. My childhood was relatively peaceful so you wouldn’t find any ‘destructive element’ in my art but artists’ personalities are profoundly counterintuitive so you never know. Aforementioned, I’m a budding artist so I’m still trying to navigate this part where I try to create things that would ignite my inner child.

Q. How do you decide the theme of your work?

It largely depends on my mood. I don’t stick to a specific theme. Art world is all about expanding your horizon to the farthest length possible. Sometimes I take up huge projects that would take days or weeks to finish. Other times, I pick my paint brushes just for the brush mileage. The important thing is, I maintain the streak otherwise it is so easy in this fast paced world to slip out of it. Maybe when I achieve my artistic skills to my goals, I will have a theme.

Q. How do you handle criticism and feedback on your work?

I am the type of person who is very cognisant of what other people have to say about me and this includes my art as well.

This is definitely not a great trait to have as an artist because art is subjective as it gets and you loose the essence while trying to accommodate multiple opinions. The only silver lining is, it allows me to look for a tiny margin of improvement every time I listen to feedbacks which is a concept I recently came across called ‘aggregation of marginal commitment’ in the book ‘Atomic Habit’ by James Clear. These days, I practice not to overstimulate my mind with multiple feedbacks and only looking for actual important criticism.

Q. What message or emotions do you hope to convey through your art?

I try not to be too conscious about what I want to portray because art is hugely subjective. Good art will speak for itself.

Q. How has your art evolved over the years?

It definitely turned from hobby to passion. My relationship with art has been tumultuous. At some point, I did not create art for a good few years. It was only last year, I allowed myself to be in that headspace to create art again after a long time and this time, I plan to continue pursuing it actively. I have also developed a newfound respect for myself as an artist. Prior to last reconciliation, art was always a medium for escape but this time, it has definitely been a delightful journey. I have faith and respect in my artistic abilities given by god so I plan to use it sincerely to change lives of people and even if the only person is me, I win.
