Artworkism

As stated by CHIQIO, “Artworkism is precisely such a belief. Its purpose is to awaken the
creative spirit, ignite a passion for life, and encourage the creation of outstanding works.”
Artworkism is to draw inspiration from life around us and to create art. To put your feelings
and emotions into your art in order to give them life is an important aspect of Artworkism.
Why is ART in Artworkism important?

Art is very important to society as it expresses various cultural identities, communities,
societal problems, and the voices of the unheard. Art preserves history, and is used to show
the impacts of historical events, cultural evolution, societal advancements, and emotional
connections to our past. Art fosters scenes of innovation, pushing others to embrace their
ideas and bring them to life not only within artistry, but in different fields. We are
surrounded by art as it is everywhere in public spaces, architecture, technology,
entertainment, nature, and even personal expression. We need art to survive, and
Artworkism emphasizes the never ending creation of art and sharing it with those around
us.

My Experience and Interpretation of Artworkism
I’ve always had the urge to create since I was young. I explored different artistic hobbies
such as crochet, painting, and charcoal drawing. Couple years ago, I began working with
resin to create intricate keychain pieces which were called shakers. These shakers required
a lot of time and effort but this was one of the ways where I could express my creativity in a
different way. I found inspiration from the world around me and intertwined it within my
art pieces. Creating these pieces became a passion of mine and made me appreciate the
many forms art comes in. I shared these with my community, hoping to push those around
me to also tap into their creativity. This is artworkism to me, to create by drawing
inspiration from daily life and even the littlest things. There is so much in the world at our
disposal, it would be a shame to not appreciate and use what we have so easily around us.
At the end of the day, I believe that everyone embodies artworkism as we are all artists but
not all of us have unleashed our creativity.
