Forest Child by Chiqio is a unique and sense invigorating, woodsy, fragrance that captivates the senses with its enchanting blend of nature-inspired notes. Its beautiful black, crystal-shaped bottle with a wood top, represents the exquisite feel of the fragrance and the story it has to tell.
First Impressions
Upon spraying Forest Child, you are instantly hit with the zesty orange and forward black pepper. While one would expect the fragrance to be sweet, it leans in a spicier direction. In relation to the name, it is reminiscent of the weeds and bushes within the forest and speaks to the mysterious aura that nature holds. This is when the middle notes of violet, ylang-ylang, and juniper come out. These three notes intensify the “woodseness” and spice but add a floral undertone, which is an unexpected combination, that someone meshes very well together. After sitting on the skin, the surprising base notes bring another layer of complexity to the fragrance. The vetiver, tobacco, sandalwood, and ambroxan, further the idea of a smoky wood, which resembles a vampire illuminating a small part of the forest under a dark starry night.
Fragrance Story: A Night in the Forest
With these notes, this fragrance has created a beautiful story within my mind; It is taking a midnight stroll through a forest, walking away from your camping grounds. As you are leaving, the warmth of the campfire begins to fade, but the smoke trails behind you. While you can still see the light in the distance, the darkness and quiet aura begin to surround you. While it is daunting and scary at first, there is a feeling of comfort and zen that is found in being alone in nature, surrounded by the night sky and stillness. Here, you find a deeper and new appreciation for Mother Earth and what she has to offer to our lives.
Fragrance Analysis: Wearer’s Interpretation
Forest Child is an earthy, spicy fragrance that is unlike any other woodsy fragrance I’ve smelt. It is perfect for a night out and will remind those who smell it of a winter breeze picking up the scents of the greenery found within a forest. While it is a part of the spicy family, to me, it has almost a crisp and cool feeling to it. Because of this, I think it would be perfect for autumn and winter, or when it is cooler out.
This scent is unisex but leans more in the masculine direction. When I picture the wearer of this perfume, I picture a business person, who is managing a conglomerate of luxury hotels. They have a suave and chill aura which makes them intriguing and mysterious to outsiders; they are dressed in wool suits of the finest quality and have just checked into their room at a ski resort. While they come off as daunting, the more you learn about them, the more warm and comforting they are.
Conclusion
Forest Child is a distinctive fragrance. Its eccentric take on a spicy and woodsy smell pays off well and creates an alluring scent that can instantly change the perfection of the wearer. Chiqio lives up to its claim and commitment to capturing and encapsulating familiar moments and captivating stories within its products.
